Born and raised in Queens, New York, I am no stranger to the hustle and bustle of New York life. Over the years, I have honed my skill of remaining steadfast in my goals and ambitions while blocking out all the wonderful chaos around me. My career goal was a simple one; find a company where I can provide my expertise while continuously learning and growing with the organization. Some might call that an equal value exchange. I had a really good feeling about walking through the doors at Coleman Research on my first day of work on June 23, 2008. Little did I know, that was the first day of a decade-long career at Coleman Research (and counting!)
Nevertheless, my journey, not unlike many others, had its surprising twists and turns along the way. I majored in Computer Information Systems at Baruch College. As someone who loves structure and processes, CIS was a no-brainer. Originally intending on pursuing a career in IT, HR took me by surprise as a field where I can utilize my skills while also learning more about a new discipline. Although HR might have been unexpected, my decision to join Coleman was very intentional. I have always worked for huge corporations, but I was attracted to Coleman due to its small company size at the time. Joining the company allowed me to grow easily and determine my own career path within the company. The educational assistance Coleman offered was especially helpful. I will be able to complete my PHR during my time here which will allow me to develop professionally and personally and continue to grow within the company.
10 years ago, I joined Coleman as an Account Administrator and supported the Client Management team with scheduling. I quickly learned that career paths at Coleman aren’t always linear. That’s when I began moving up by first switching to the HR department as an HR Associate before becoming an HR Manager. Although it wasn’t the career path I originally envisioned for myself, I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. I love what I do because I get to interact with the whole organization. I enjoy trying to build relationships with every colleague and helping foster a positive environment where people look forward to coming to work every day. Many of our staff members are new to the corporate world, so I love being an outlet that they can tap into whenever they need help or support. I also recently had the opportunity to help my office take on the overwhelming task of moving to a WeWork space.
At Coleman, I never have the same day twice!
