Celebrating Cuisines in Coleman’s Cities – Raleigh

Celebrating Cuisines in Coleman’s Cities

Coleman Research has offices located in six different cities around the world; New York, Boston, Raleigh, San Francisco, London, and Hong Kong. With the diversity in locations, it gives Coleman employees the opportunity at times, to visit these different cities. Whether it be a few days for an office visit or relocating for a new job opportunity, Coleman employees are often on the move. However, while discovering a new city can be exciting, it can also be very intimidating. Finding places to eat, visit, shop is no small task.

Therefore, we have put together our own Coleman City Guides. These guides are sourced from our employees in each location to help create the perfect local itinerary for whenever and however long you visit. From one of our favorite bakeries in New York City, to our go-to for fried chicken in Raleigh, Coleman has the guide for you.

This week, our employees took a food tour of Raleigh, NC and narrowed down some of their favorite places to eat including some recommendations for their favorite menu items. After making some very tough decisions, our employees selected…

Brewery Bhavana

A four-in-one concept that includes a floral shop, brewery, bookstore, and dim sum restaurant. Between an amazing Asian cuisine and wide selection of privately brewed beer, it’s hard to go wrong here. Starting with small dishes, we would recommend the Xiao Long Bao Soup Dumplings, Crab Croquettes, and the Vegetable Curry Puffs. Some the best large dishes include the General Tso Chicken, Nasi Goring Crab Fried Rice, and the Lo Mein Noodles. As far as beer, we highly recommend their Citrus Double IPA, Grove as well as Piglette, a tart & funky Grisette. Best of all, this place was nominated by Forbes magazine as one of the top 10 coolest places to eat IN. THE. WORLD.

Sosta Café

A French styled restaurant and coffee bar, serving breakfast, lunch and pastries with an eclectic décor. Here you will be greeted by the exceedingly friendly owner Jerome, a local favorite, and a quaint ambiance with relaxed European instrumental music. A Coleman favorite dish is the Pollobella, some Colemanites may insist you ask for Pesto and replace the cheese with Gorgonzola (Contact Brent Watkins or Mike Gooding with questions). With anything you order, we would also recommend the Israeli couscous, a delectable side dish along with your sandwich.

Taverna Agora

A short walk from the One Glenwood building, Taverna is rated as the best rooftop restaurant in Raleigh. You will find a masterful combination of delicious Mediterranean food with the look and feel of the Greek Isles. We highly recommend you request rooftop seating for both the view and overall atmosphere. While dining here the Flambéed Saganaki, a flaming cheese, is a must along with the Berry Moscow Mule. For Dinner options, we recommend the Taverna Grilled Chicken, Chicken Penne Mykonos, and Braised Lamb Shank.

Junction West

Settled in the southwest most corner of Downtown and right next to Union Station, Junction West brings local modern charm to the Warehouse District. Gabie and Rob Frantz own and operate this bright and welcoming bar that serves Raleigh and North Carolina Beer along with Wine and Cocktails. As a second-level cicerone, a sommelier of beer, Rob sources an excellent selection of beer and is happy to provide recommendations to his patrons. Junction West has outdoor seating with a turf lawn and lovely view of the DT skyline. We recommend local Raleigh beers from either Trophy or Lynwood paired with any of the comfy lounge chairs out on the turf.

Watts and Ward

This large speakeasy styled cocktail bar has 3 full sized bars in the basement underneath the Caffe Luna Italian restaurant. Styled with a vintage library vibe and complete with tufted couches & artisanal drinks. On Sunny days there is bench seating outside for use along with a tiki bar where you can purchase a drink and a cigar. For a delicate and refreshing drink, we highly recommend the Carolina Lilly or any of their sparkling Rosé. On Thursdays (8:30pm-12) and Sundays (8pm-11pm), you will find Live Jazz inside the main bar. There is a $1 (cash) membership fee that lasts a full year.

We can all agree that food brings people together. At Coleman, we take it one step further by bringing everyone together on a global scale.
