#ColemanCares – The Presidio Nursery in San Francisco

In continuation of our #ColemanCares stories, this week we are featuring our San Francisco team’s work on the Presidio Nursery.

On August 21, Cole McWilliams and Michael Maxey used the Coleman CSR opportunity to help Presidio Nursery grow and restore native plants to San Francisco’s Presidio national park. The nursery is actively working to restore hundreds of different plant species daily and is a cornerstone of the park’s conservation efforts. The team was able to help prune, fertilize, and learn about the different species in the nursery as part of the rehabilitation effort. Ultimately, the hours spent volunteering at the nursery helped contribute to the eventual reestablishment of these plants in the park.

Here’s what the team had to say about their experiences…

Michael Maxey: “Working at the Presidio was a great experience. The employees there genuinely appreciate every person who comes out to help and they really need the help with the amount of work they have to do on a daily basis. It was a great change of pace for a good cause and would definitely do it again when I have a chance.”

Cole McWilliams: “The Presidio staff was so incredible and genuinely grateful for the work we did. Living in SF, there are so many beautiful parks that we all enjoy, so we wanted to do something to help make those public spaces even more incredible than they already are. Volunteering is important because it reminds you of all the hard work people are doing every day outside your own bubble, and gives you a greater sense of engagement with your community.”

About #ColemanCares

#ColemanCares is an initiative that encourages each and every Coleman employee to give back to the communities in which we live and work. We are proud to showcase some of the causes in which Coleman employees have volunteered their CSR days. It’s one of the ways we show how much #ColemanCares.
