“In Their Shoes…” with Melanie Shanken

“In Their Shoes…” with Melanie Shanken

For this month’s “In Their Shoes…” segment, we sat down with Melanie Shanken, Executive Assistant to the CEO, based in our NY office, to learn more about her personal and professional background.

Where are you from and where did you grow up?

Long Island, NY/

Where were you and what were you doing before you came to Coleman?

Before coming to Coleman, I was in Sales in the Fashion Industry.

When did you start with Coleman?

December 2015 – exactly 4 years ago!

What made you decide to join Coleman?

It was a new and exciting opportunity.

What is your favorite thing about your job? Favorite thing about working in NY?

One of my favorite things would have to be that I get to interact with every single Coleman employee at some point.  I am very much a people person and thrive on interacting with all different type of people in different places around the world.

Where did you go to school and what did you study? Why did you choose that major / course of study?

I studied communications at the Lynn University in South Florida.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Anything salty! I have a major “salt” tooth.  I could probably live off pickles!

What are three things on your “bucket list”?

Picking just three places is tough but I would love to travel the world (many more places than three).

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?

There are so many places I’d love to go, so it’s really hard to pick just one! I guess the first place that comes to mind is Australia.

Have any secret talents?

 Not that I know of!

Where is your favorite place to hang out in NY?

I like anywhere with good music and drinks.  I went to a place recently called Au Cheval and it was awesome!

What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?

I like binging Netflix shows and working out.  Two very opposite hobbies but they are both tied for first on my list of hobbies!
