Coleman’s various teams work together to help make Coleman one of the industry’s leaders whilst upholding Coleman’s values of quality, integrity, and collaboration. Among our teams is the legal and compliance team, which provides global support to our clients, experts, and internal teams.
One of our legal team members is Ashley Alexander, Assistant General Counsel. We sat down with her to gain a little insight about her personal and professional life.
Where are you from and where did you grow up?
I’m originally from Long Island, New York and I moved to Cary, NC when I was 10.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
I went to UNC Wilmington for undergrad and studied business before attending UNC Law to receive my law degree.
What made you decide to join Coleman?
I knew I wanted to be in a corporate legal position and Coleman was the perfect opportunity to take my law firm experience in-house. I enjoyed speaking with everyone that I interviewed with and was excited about the opportunity to work with them.
Tell me about your career path since you have been with Coleman.
I was hired as Manager, Legal & Compliance and eventually worked my way up to Assistant General Counsel, handling a variety of legal matters for Coleman.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite thing about my job is that our team is very close, and I am able to get hands-on experience in a wide variety of issues. I am not limited to working in one area of the law and each day looks different.
What are three things on your “bucket list”?
– Visit Costa Rica
– Run a half marathon
– Learn to play a song on the guitar.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
Any tropical location with white sand and clear water.
Where is your favorite place to hang out in Raleigh?
Don’t have a favorite but live music at Milk Bar is always a lot of fun.
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of work?
I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, hot yoga, and trying new restaurants and food trucks.
