Reflections of My First Three Months

Reflections of My First Three Months

I started with Coleman Research in September 2017 as an Analyst on the Investment Management team in London. I had just handed in my Masters Dissertation at King’s College London, and two weeks later I began working at Coleman. Since joining the team, I’ve worked on exciting projects for top hedge funds, mutual funds, and private equity firms based in the EMEA region. Despite only having been at Coleman for a short time, I’ve been able to interact with many high-power experts.

One particular project that I’ve been working on for the past three months resulted in a fantastic networking opportunity. After completing training in September, I started a project which involved scheduling an expert to speak at a London-based mutual fund’s panel event. The client was looking to understand EU and UK regulation of internet giants and AI providers. I recruited an expert who had never worked with expert networking firms before, but was willing to take a chance on the opportunity we presented. In November, my expert, who formerly worked in a high-level position at a US tech company, flew into London for the event. Following the panel discussion, I met the expert for a coffee and we discussed further opportunities for him to consult with Coleman. I was able to tell him about some of the services that we offer such as hosted events and one on one calls, and he gave me some great insight into the panel event where he spoke.

This is the best thing about working at Coleman – the unique opportunities that are available to us, even when we are just beginning our careers. Having the chance to speak with successful experts across many industries has been great, and I feel like I am learning a lot from daily exchanges I have via phone and email. I thrive in our fast-paced environment. Another great aspect about working in EMEA is that I get to use different languages on a daily basis. Finally, apart from the experts that I’ve worked with, my team has been fantastic so far. The support I’ve received from my buddy has been a key factor in achieving success, and I myself will soon have the opportunity to act as buddy to our newest colleagues. London team is growing and so are the opportunities for those of us working here.
